iTero Impression Scanner
The Surdel Dental Centre team uses the iTero Impression Scanner to plan out Invisalign treatment for our patients. It allows us to give you an idea of what your results will look like once treatment is complete.
What is iTero?
The iTero Element Impression Scanner is an intraoral camera, which is essentially a small hand-held device that can be used to take digital impressions of patients smiles. It takes highly accurate 3D images, and allows us to make adjustments to treatment in real time, store data digitally, and show patients how their Invisalign results will look before treatment even begins.
How does it work?
We'll start by scanning each quadrant of your jaw with Itero's ergonomically designed scanning wand. This wand is easy for the dentist to use and makes the whole process very comfortable for the patient.
Whole tooth images are captured for a highly accurate scan, resulting in better fitting Invisalign aligners.
After the quadrant scan has been completed, a full bite scan is perfomed so that the dentist can get ascertain the nature and severity of the patient's malocclusion. The complete model is then sent to Align Technologies so that the aligners can be created.
With an iTero scan, we can use the Invisalign Outcome Simulator to create a simulation of how the patient's teeth will look at the conclusion of Invisalign treatment.
