Soft Food Diet Suggestions for People With New Dentures

Soft Food Diet Suggestions for People With New Dentures

At Surdel Dental Centre, our dentists understand that it's going to take a little time (and practice) to learn how to eat with your new dentures in. So, today we are sharing a few soft-food suggestions to help you as your mouth heals and you adjust to your new teeth.

Meal Planning in Advance

After your tooth extraction, as well as when you first get your new dentures, you are going to need to stick to a diet of liquids and soft foods until your mouth heals, and you've had time to get used to eating while wearing your dentures.

To prepare yourself for this somewhat uncomfortable period of adjustment, our dentists recommend stocking your fridge with an assortment of soft-foods that you enjoy, before the process begins. Stocking up on a the soft foods you like, and getting a few ready-made meals prepared and stored in the freezer, will help you to continue eating well as you get used to your new teeth.

Although it's only temporary, changing your eating habits can be challenging. Try to keep in mind that there is a huge selection of soft-foods which can be combined to make fast, delicious and nutritious meals that you are sure to enjoy. Our soft food favourites include lentil dal and rice, macaroni and cheese, and soft cooked tofu with noodles and veggies.
