You should care for your dentures as carefully as you would care for your natural teeth. Here's how to keep your dentures looking great and fitting well.
Clean Your Dentures Daily
Be sure to clean your dentures daily, just like you would clean your natural teeth.
Use a soft bristle denture brush and water to thoroughly clean your dentures. Never use toothpaste, it could damage your dentures. Brush all of the sections of your dentures being extra careful not to bend any of the attachments.
After each meal, rinse your dentures with water.
Soak Your Dentures Every Night
Make your dentures easier to clean by soaking them to help to loosen the plaque and tartar.
Take your dentures out at night and soak them in denture cleaner, or a mixture of warm water and vinegar. Only use warm water to soak your dentures if they have metal attachments.
Soaking dentures is not a substitute for cleaning them! Keep your dentures in tip top condition by soaking them each night and brushing them every day.
Treat Your Dentures With Care
It's a good idea to place a folded towel in the sink, (or on the bathroom vanity), while you're handling your dentures. If you were to accidentally drop them the towel will act as a cushion and help to protect your dentures from being damaged.
To prevent your dentures from drying out, soak them in water or denture cleaner whenever you aren't wearing them.
Do not use denture solutions if your dentures have metal attachments. Denture solutions may cause metal to tarnish.
Never use hot water to clean your dentures! Hot water could cause your dentures to warp.
